My Currently List

Hi Friends! This is my first “currently” blog. I’ve been seeing this blog theme for such a long time. I realized I haven’t tried doing it and such a good idea to break the ice of a blogging slump. So here we go.

I’m currently watching 📺

Prison Break in Netflix.

This show is super addicting!!! I just finished Season 2 and decided to take a break before jumping on Season 3 which according to my brother will be more thrilling. It was a slow burner in Season 1 that I let it play in my screen while not paying much attention to what was going on. But when it started to finally get interesting , I had difficulties now to put it down. Season 2 was a blast. Found myself screaming at some point because of the twist and turns. It was really a good show. If you are craving for adrenaline rush then Prison Break is for you. It’s an old show and you can see some characters risking their lives just to reach a payphone because not everyone has mobile phones yet. The trendiest phone in this series was flip phones. Good old times.

If you’re not yet familiar with this series, it’s a story about Michael Scolfied who intentionally commit a robbery so he can be detained to the same prison where his brother Lincoln was waiting for his death penalty. His brother was innocent and Michael would do everything to escape the prison together with his brother.

Here’s a fan made trailer of this awesome show

World of the Married Couple

So many K-drama to choose from Netflix and here I chose to watch a Kdrama not available in it. I get interested of this series because of the raves it get from Facebook. I got curious even I’m tired of infidelity stories. However, it is executed like a suspense/thriller that’s why it gets much attention. It’s a good show. It has demonstrated the effect of cheating mostly to the children. My main takeaway would be it’s really a harsh world for women when it comes to professional fields or relationship. Even in divorce, it almost always the woman, even not at fault at the divorce , would get all the punch. But I won’t say this series deserves so much hype. I found some happenings in the series absurd (except for the Episode 14. That was the best part of the show). Every actor was commendable. It actually ended last weekend. I was thinking to write a full review on this. But let’s see.

I’m currently listening 🎵

I’m not much keen in looking for new music or new artists lately. I have made a playlist of the songs that make me heartbroken or lovesick. Not because I love torturing myself but I’m writing a novel. I need these songs to set-up the mood and feels I need.

Here are the artists and title of the songs featured in this playlist.

  1. Joji – Slow dancing in the dark
  2. Rivermaya-Balisong
  3. Rivermaya-214
  4. Muni-muni- Sa’yo
  5. Muni-muni- Bawat Piyesa
  6. IV of Spades- I Ain’t Perfect
  7. Coldplay-True Love
  8. Coldplay-The Scientist

  10. Vertical Horizon-Best I Ever Had
  11. Orange and Lemons- Hanggang Kailan
  12. Join the Club-Nobela

  14. IV of Spades- Dulo ng Hangganan

EMOTIONS

I’m happy because my last activity at work during the weekend was smooth. My friends and family are also safe wherever they are. I’m not with them but knowing this makes me feel blessed in a way.

I’m sad because Covid-19 cases is still increasing in the Philippines. As of this writing, we have 12,513 confirmed cases already. And still the government is not keen on Mass Testing.

I’m worried because some areas are already starting to open stablishments. There are a lot of photos showing crowds in one area. We are not yet successful in flattening the curve and seeing those photos i could feel the second wave is not far from reality. I’m also worried about my electric bill. Recently people are expressing their outrage because their recent electric bills have 300-400% increase! My friends and families experienced it. I haven’t received mine yet that’s why I’am anxious. By the way, it inspired to create this short POV skit. I used the photo of my friend’s electric bill for this.

I’m looking forward to go back to normal. I am positive we can still go back to our normal lives. I’m positive that we can travel again. No matter how spot-on the signs that the end of the world sign are, I’m positive that this is not what the Lord has promised. It’s not going to end now and not in the near future. But I do believe that a lot of things must change.

One of the plans that has to be cancelled was my South Korea trip. I already have the visa and the pocket money. It’s one of my dream destinations. I’m still hoping I could still go there before the year ends. *Cross Fingers* For the mean time, I have made a short video of what I will do once the world defeated Covid-19 . I have also pour out my travel frustrations here. How about you? What are your ruined plans because of this pandemic?

That’s it for my Tuesday Currently List! I’m interested to know your currently list too.Let’s chat in the comments.

It’s going to get better,

Gurezu ❤

What is Bullet Journaling and How It Is Helping Me

HI Friends! I hope you are all doing great. Just like in previous months, I will share a behind the scenes video of my bullet journal set-up this May 2020. Along with this, I will tackle about what is bullet journaling, it’s short history and most importantly, how it has been helping me personally now that I’ve been doing this for more than four months already. And maybe it can help you too.

Plan with me. MAY 2020

1.What is Bullet Journal?

Bullet Journal or Bujo is invented and coined by a digital designer named Ryder Carroll. It is simply an organizational method to improve productivity and track everything that matters by using a notebook. You could say it’s like using a planner, sticky notes or calendar mobile applications. But what set bullet journal method apart is it hones the skill of de-cluttering the mind and sense of focus.

2. What is the short history of Bullet Journal method?

Ryder Carroll was diagnosed with “Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder ” or (ADHD) as a child. It’s a mental disorder characterized by inability to focus, learning disability and excessive activity. Growing up, journaling has been his refuge to cut the noise in his head. Through the years, he developed the system that helped him outgrew the challenges of having ADHD . Encouraged by a friend who found the same system useful in his own life, he shared his method online and soon garnered attention in social media. Bullet journaling or bujo eventually became a global productivity tool sensation as it helps others achieve their own goals.

The history is best told from the creator of bullet journal himself with his TED TALK entitled “How to Declutter Your Mind–Keep a Journal”. If you’re a scatterbrained myself, I recommend you to watch this 12-minute video.

3. How bullet journaling help my life as a scatterbrain?

I’ve been doing bullet journaling since the start of the year 2020. At that time, I felt like my social media habits are problematic. I was caught in the cycle of I want to do something but I got a little time. Not that I’m too busy but I was just wasting my time away. Then I will feel guilty and ashamed afterwards. You see, i am not diagnosed with ADHD like the creator of bujo. But the difficulty to focus resonated with me. I used to be an old school journalist since highschool. It stopped when I started working. And of course, when mobile phones became the extension of a person. It was not the only hobby that disappeared. I was also not that into reading books anymore as I used to. A lot of study says that social media makes people impatient, shortens the attention span, gives FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and makes people seek validation by number of followers and likes. In my case, I recognized these signs are true.

It was with my endless scrolling that I stumbled upon the hashtag #bujo and re-discover the world of journaling. I was amazed on how flexible bujo can be. And how it is not demanding it terms of your writing prowess. In most bujo, it’s ideal to have one liner description of a task or thoughts. But feel free to write in your heart content when you feel like it. I decided at that time to lessen my social media and replace it with analog writing to help me with this addiction.

I’m a natural scatterbrain and forgetful. Writing my tasks everyday made me remember majority of my tasks both for work and personal artistic endevors. I am far from what we can say “accomplished blogger” out there. I still forget things specially if I forgot to write a task itself. But I could say that I am making progress compared to what I was before. For example, I am now starting to get meaningful interaction in my Instagram contents.

As Covid-19 pandemic progressed, bullet journaling in return became a refuge. I am spending most of the quarantine alone in a dormitory. Writing my thoughts comforted me. Also, working with the aesthetic of my pages gives me space for artistic outlet. It makes me feel excited at least even I am home alone.

Journaling has been one of the popular method of therapy in the world of psychology. Some prefers maintaining an anonymous blog or any digital writing. In my case, writing by hand gave me more sense of peace and comfort. Maybe because I get distracted easily with social media.

Maintaining a bullet journal can be time-consuming. But I recommend everyone to try it. You can start with one-sentence gratitude journal everyday if writing is not your thing. In my first month, I actually did not do the bullet journaling method by itself. I just tested if I could keep the habit of journaling for a month . Now that I fell in love with it, I decided to proceed to study the bullet journaling method itself. In my next blog, I will write a “Getting Started Guide” and I will try my best to explain it in simplest term. But of course there are already lot of references in the cyberworld if you are curious enough at this very moment.

Before I end this blog, I would also like to invite you to be one of my International Blogger Friend. The basic idea is to have at least one blogger friend in each country. In the Philippines where I live, I also have a separate directory called one friend in each PH Region. For more details, just go to this link. I hope you accept my invitation!

Remember you are awesome,

My Minimalist Bullet Journal Using Paperang Mobile Printer

Hi Friends! Just want to share with you my bullet journal set-up for April 2020. I opted for a black and white color scheme last month because I heard that minimalist or monochromatic bujo is not that popular in bullet journaling community. Many were discouraged because they felt they can’t doodle or not talented enough to do colorful spreads. I admit I entered the world of bullet journaling because of those colorful bujo that caught my interest. Eventually, I was equally blown away to those are doing minimalist bujo’s. Sometimes, the writer would just use notebook and black ink but his/her spread would still come out so amazing. I felt sometimes it was more challenging to do minimalist bujo. One of my favorites bujo minimalists is supermassiveblackink . Just look at her sample spreads below.

So for the month of April 2020, I took this as a challenge for me. This is also an opportunity for me to explore the features of my mobile printer Paperang 2.o. I bought it last February. It’s a thermal printer which only prints black and white images. It’s fairly affordable than the mobile colored printers. The paper rolls are also inexpensive. It can be used as portable printer for receipt , labeler, graphics, images and nametags. For journaling purposes, I don’t think I’ll be able to afford to buy paper rolls for colored mobile printer every month. I’m pretty sure that even if I bought one, I won’t be able to use it as much as I want to. So glad that I discovered Paperang 2.0.

If you are wondering where to buy it, I got it from Lazada. It comes with free paper rolls. You can also buy additional paper rolls in Lazada. Here’s the link.

For the first time also, I made a complete behind-the-scenes video of my April 2020 showing the mobile printer in action.

Fourth and Fifth Week Theme:

My theme for the last two weeks were “Portraits of the Fallen Healthcare Frontliners”. These are our heroes who died amidst our fight against the pandemic. I thought of printing their hand-drawn portraits here so that I’ll be reminded of their faces and their name. Unfortunately, I personally knew one of them way back college. He was a classmate and friend of my bff during first year. Even though our friendship is just short, I remember his warm personality. It’s just sad to hear the news the he’s among the doctors who died in the plane crash in NAIA while they were on their way to a medical mission. It’s disappointing to hear the plights of our healthcare professionals. Not only their lives are at risk, they are also largely discriminated and harassed by the community. I hope this pandemic would end for their sake.

Credits for these portraits goes to Aurelio Castro III.

As usual, ending this month with Evaluation and April Memories spread. Luckily even if I spent it mostly at home, there are still reasons to celebrate. One of these, my three of my close friends are now future parents. Yes, they are made with love during quarantine period.

I am pretty satisfied with my spreads. Thanks to Paperang for adding life since I can not draw. But next month, I will go back to brown aesthetic because that’s my most favorite of all.

Creative Journaling has been part of my coping mechanism, during this stuck at home lifestyle. I find comforts in writing and words. I would like to recommend this activity to everybody. It does not have as elaborate as I usually did. It could be simple one liner sentence of gratitude everyday. Or you could write what’s bothering you with our current situation. However, I understand that coping mechanism would be different for everybody. So I would like to also know how do you maintain your mental health this season. Feel free to commend and suggest!

Additionally I would like to invite you to be my International Blogger Friend. The basic idea is to have at least one blogger friend in each country. In the Philippines where I live, I also have a separate directory called one friend in each PH Region. For more details, just go to this link. I hope you accept my invitation!

Hoping you are safe!
